Food has always been more than food to me. It’s how I’ve learned to gather people back to themselves, back to each other, and into moments that feel real. Moments where time stretches, laughter gets louder, and the table slowly fills with stories as much as plates.
I’m Vanessa, the founder of VSK, and hosting has always been my love language. Not the polished, performative kind, but the kind that feels generous, relaxed, and deeply human.
What VSK stands for
VSK was born from a simple belief: that food should gather us. Not to overwhelm the host. Not to impress for the sake of it. Not feel transactional or rushed, but to invite people to linger, reach across the table, and stay a little longer than planned.
Everything we do, from harvest tables to catering to recipes shared here is designed with connection in mind. The food sits in the middle. It’s meant to be shared, abundant, unfussy, and intentional.
Why hosting matters
In a world that moves quickly and asks a lot of us, hosting is a quiet act of care. It’s a way of saying: come as you are, there’s a place for you here. When done with intention, hosting becomes less about performance and more about presence. Less about the menu, more about the moment. And that’s where real connection happens.
At VSK, we believe hosting should feel lighter, something that supports connection rather than distracts from it.
What you’ll find here
This space is an extension of our table. Here, I’ll be sharing:
Hosting philosophies and practical tips
Recipes designed for sharing
Thoughts on food, wine and gathering well
Stories from tables we’ve built and meals we’ve shared
Whether you’re hosting a big celebration or a simple Sunday lunch, my hope is that this space helps you gather with more ease, intention and joy. Because when food does what it’s meant to do, it gathers us back to ourselves, each other and the moment.
Love,
V
